Robert Ivy: Showcasing the Benefits of Joining a Professional Organization

The American Institute of Architects, also known as AIA, is one of the oldest professional organizations in the United States. The organization’s current head is Robert Ivy, who started serving as the executive vice president and the CEO beginning in 2011. His leadership is characterized by excellence, and he is also using his networks to inform the public about the architectural profession, their contributions to the society, and why is it important to join a professional architectural organization. Robert Ivy is a native of Mississippi. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a well-known architect, but when he was in college, he took up a different career path. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English Degree, and he later realized that he should be taking another degree that would make his dream come true. He enrolled at the Tulane University and took up a master’s degree in Architecture. He had a hard time looking for a company where he can work, but after persevering to look for a company that would hire him, he stumbled upon the McGraw-Hill Construction Media. The company is responsible for the publishing of the Architectural Record, and Robert Ivy was invited to become the company’s editor in chief. Through his efforts, the Architectural Record became known around the world, and people are buying it to learn a lot about architecture.

He joined the AIA in 1996 and participated in the events hosted by the organization. Robert Ivy managed to show the senior executives at the AIA that he has extensive leadership skills, and when the executives decided to retire, they unanimously chose him to serve the leadership position. Alex Pall Discusses his Band in Interview

The late Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine, and recently, The Chainsmokers added their names to the long plethora of musical acts to be featured in the magazine. In the interview, Alex Pall and Drew Taggart discussed their origins and the future of their band.

The Chainsmokers came to fruition in 2012; however, Drew Taggart didn’t join until 2014. That’s when the group found their lane, releasing “#Selfie” and taking airwaves by storm. Four years since their first single The Chainsmokers haven’t lost their momentum.

Alex Pall began the interview explaining where he came from. “I was a DJ growing up,” Pall said. He was originally DJing around the New York Area, when in a single moment, he discovered that music was consuming his life. He decided to take his DJing serious and linked up with Drew Taggart.

Taggart was a student in Maine, but he also had connections with Interscope Records. This is how he was introduced to Pall. Once the two linked up, as a result of incredible chemistry, they began making music together. In fact, in the interview they expressed that they are months ahead of release schedule. Although they have only one album out, they may have plans made already for multiple projects.

The Chainsmokers charted several times; however, they didn’t reach true mainstream stardom until the release of “Closer.” The song features singer Halsey, and it recently went diamond. Released in 2016, it took the song almost 2 years to the day to achieve 10 million copies sold.

“She’s incredible,” Alex Pall said in reference to Halsey, who is a featured vocalist on “Closer.” The song not only shot The Chainsmokers into international fame, it did the same for Halsey.

Another topic of the interview was their fanbase. Pall explained that their age demographics are typical. People between the ages of 16 to 25 are their target audience; however, surprisingly, their demographics are almost evenly split between male and female. Pall also talked about how social media enabled them to see exactly who their fans are and where they are from.
